Books… my saving grace
Books have been my saving grace. I am so grateful to all the compassionate, loving, and generous authors/spiritual mentors, that have changed my life. You know, I would not be who or where I am today without their spiritual guidance.
I have a thurse for spiritual knowledge, a hunger to do better and be better. I know that when I’m not feeling so good or going through hard or even life-changing experience, the answers are there. If I can’t find answers in a book I can usually find them in myself. If I sit quiet enough to listen, I can hear.
Books are rich in information, knowledge, history and filled with beautiful surprises that change us forever. That’s great literature!

Just a few of my favorite books
Choosing a Spiritual book, oh my god, there are so many good ones. There are some books that we are not ready to read yet or that we may not quite understand. Or relate to because of where we are in our life. Rarely, but on occasion, I have bought a book online that I heard of, great reviews and when it arrived, it just didn’t speak to me. I’ll pick it up maybe a year or so later, and it’s bang on for me at that moment.
I have often stood in front of bookshelves in the book store and wanted so many of them. What usually happens is a book chooses me. I walk out of the store with a book that is perfect for me. It’s exactly what I am going through or searching for at that moment.
Life is exactly as it is supposed to be even when it comes to books.
Books have been my saving grace because I know I do not have all the answers. I am but a student here in this beautiful world. As I get older and wiser I, you, we become the teacher. We have that responsibility as an elder.
Who taught us?
That could be questionable for some of us to answer, I know. But for others, it was great stories and experiences from our parents, grandparents. Even the old fella or gal, living next door inspired us. He/she made us want to be better and sparked that curiosity inside us.

Sitting with elderly people when I was a young child was one of my favorite pass times. Wanting to be a grown-up, and in their company, the stories filled me with intrigue and hope.
Be a good listener
Being, and I still am, a good listener. I pay attention, especially to the wise, kind, gentle, and compassionate folks. Listening to gentle souls draws me in. Others have great lessons to teach us as well. Sometimes the loud, hard, and broken souls are our best teachers. Our lessons come in all shapes and sizes. Be present and mindful of those around you and those you meet.
Here is a list of books I love. I have written in them, highlighted them, even shed a few tears reading them. They changed me which in turn changed my life. I hope you enjoy these books as much as I have.
Feel free to email me with questions or comments about these books and how you enjoyed them.
